I come from a very large family (I'm one of nine children) and about every other year for the last 8 years or so, we would rent a beach house in Destin for a week during the summer just to relax and get away. It's always great, especially when my older siblings who live across the country still make it with their spouse and kids. I don't think there has ever been a bad memory while in Destin for me. It will always hold a large place in my heart, and I look forward to many more opportunities to visit!

Oh my gosh, Peter: a house full of kids on the beach in Florida... it sounds like so much fun! We went to the coast (Topsail in North Carolina) with my husband's daughters and their families a few years ago, and it was fabulous. The little kids had never seen the ocean before, so that was really exciting! For me, the Pacific coast of California is the ocean I love best, but for goofing around with kids, the Atlantic coast is such a perfect place for having fun in the sun. I hope we will get to make another big family trip like that again soon too. :-)
